Lengthy topic, but i think USEFUL to read for everyone:
I was bored so i was doing some YuGiOh studying (which is what i do to avoid school work) and found that:
Thunder King cannot negate many of the effects that many use him (INCORRECTLY) to negate. Why?
Thunder King can only stop "INHERENT SPECIAL SUMMONS", meaning special summons that do not start a chain or are not caused by the effect of a monster/trap/spell. The way i think of it, if you play YuGiOh vidoe games, if the monster flashes before the summon happens, that means TK cannot negate him.
That said, TK CANNOT negate the summon by effects of:
-Polymerization/ritual spells
-Call of the haunted/monster reborn/etc
-Or any other spell/trap card (as all these are summons by effects)
-Stardust dragon (not inherent, starts a chain)
-Gorz, Tragoedia
-Vayu
-Debris Dragon summoning effect
-Rescue cat/Substitoad (Rest In Peace
![Very Happy](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_biggrin.png)
)
-Tomato, Angel, Rat.
-Giant Germ
-Monsters summoned by the effect of Red-e-darkness metal dragon (but TK can stop the special summon of the dragon itself).
-Dark Simorgh (only because Konami decided dark simorgh summon starts a chain; TK can still stop chaos sorcerer).
-Treeborn frog
etc etc
Also, as Shido Fuyuki told me earlier, TK, Solemn Judgement, and Black Horn of Heaven are similar with regards to these limitations.
however, that's not to say that TK is a useless card, he's still an awesome oppression card. Can negate the summon of many major league monsters: synchro monsters, chaos sorcerer, Darkness metal dragon, cyber dragon, DAD, JD, Dark Creator, Shogun Shien/Grandmaster, etc.
Hope people find this post useful, and please can an admin comment on its accuracy so that i can use it as a reference in future duels
